Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
In 2008 I used my senior thesis as an opportunity to meld my journey as an artist and my learnings as a budding therapist. I held an exhibit that displayed my personal paintings of body image expectations and pressures as a woman alongside drawings produced by women who attended a series of body image workshops that I facilitated processing said topics. I began to see the therapeutic value of art and how the process of making it in community can be not only connective but healing, as well.
