The Need for Expressive Arts in Corporate Wellness

Creativity is seen as a defining quality in business, opening doors of innovation and prosperity. Yet creativity can be easily impacted by stress, restricted by anxiety and numbed by burnout. My approach to wellness and growth centers creativity, finding that imagination and learning go hand in hand, and leads to more sustainable habits of integration both internally and relationally.

Art Fosters Collaboration & Innovation

We are the sum of our parts, and wellness exists on both an individual and collective level: from the team member to the department to the overall company, all surrounded by and interacting with the society in which we live. When we take a social-ecological approach to wellness, we see it includes the individual, the environment (in and outside of work) and the interaction of the two.

Art can be used as a non-judgmental tool to map our environmental interactions, understand and visualize how stress is impacting our wellness and allow for an alternative mode of processing outside of talking. My workshops are structured to address wellness from an ecological lens informed by evidence-based approaches, the physiology of stress and interactivity rooted in creative expression, mindfulness and connection.

Workplace Wellness Workshops

The Story of Stress: Integrating Art into Stress Management

  • This introductory workshop teaches the role of stress, how chronic stress & burnout can lead to anxiety & depression and methods of understanding our individual stress responses through art.

  • Building off of Part I, this workshop explores the window of tolerance, the sweet-spot stress zone that we function best in, what happens when we are outside of our window of tolerance and mind-body tools to re-enter our window of tolerance when stressed.

  • Drawing from psychoeducation of Part I & Part II, this final workshop focuses on creative and experiential methods of cultivating skills to manage stress as an ongoing practice.

Innovative Communication: Expanding Modes of Communication through Creative Expression

  • This introductory workshop uses art to build awareness around our internal narratives and patterns of communication along with their impact on our assumptions, expectations and interactions.

  • Moving from internal narratives in Part I, Part II focuses on developing mindful listening, decentering the Self and learning to understand verbal and non-verbal communication while identifying emotions.

  • The final workshop concludes with the exploration of boundaries, visualizing what healthy boundaries look like,  how to honor our needs and reduce anxiety or reactivity when communicating our needs.

Determine what structure works best.

I offer 2-hour workshops which can be provided as a series or a full-day training and are available in person, online or a combination of both. Depending on time, team or company schedule & needs, we can decide what would be most beneficial.
